Mining Hall of Fame Foundation

The Foundation has been set up to support the current endeavors and future development of the Australian Prospectors & Miners Hall of Fame (“Hall of Fame”), with a particular emphasis on the Outreach Education Program offered by the organization.

The Foundation will also provide the support needed to ensure that the Hall of Fame becomes the national showcase of the Resources Industry in Australia, with world-class facilities and exhibits.

The role of the Hall of Fame in relation to education in the mining and resources industry is:

  • To function as an educational institution focused on promoting the importance of delivering a high quality educational program about the resources industry
  • To highlight the positive contribution made by the industry to society, the economy and the environment
  • To change student perception about the resources industry and develop their understanding of the scope of career opportunities available
  • To change teacher perception about the resources industry in relation to the above issues.

The Hall of Fame will work with both primary and secondary schools to create three levels for student engagement:

  • Expose:  Mine site tours to introduce students to the scope of mining operations
  • Target:   Exposure to specific areas of student interest based on student response
  • Mentor:  Response to expression if interest invitations

Part of the vision of the program will be to involve the Resources Industry in a planning process that will integrate their learning resources with the teaching and learning programs.

The program will be developed in collaboration with other partners, such as the Chamber of Minerals and Energy (initially in WA and later it is hoped with Chambers in other States) and the School of Mines at Curtin University.

Teacher Professional Development will also be an important part of the program and the support of Skywest Airlines is helping our Education Officers to reach out to teachers in the metropolitan area.

You can make a contribution to the Foundation in a number of ways:

By a cash donation, which is fully tax deductible and/or

By the issue of shares, which based on the private ruling obtained from the ATO by our tax advisers RSM Bird Cameron can also be tax deductable.

By including the Hall of Fame in your will.
