Careers in Mining

There has never been a better time to explore career opportunities in the resources sector.  High growth in the demand for minerals, petroleum and gas has translated into high demand for talented and enthusiastic individuals to join the ranks of one of the most dynamic industries in the world.  Use the following sites to explore the possibilities.

Minerals Council of Australia

The Minerals Council of Australia (MCA) has launched the Australian Minerals Industry Careers Website. The site highlights over 30 careers, providing information and movies on a wide variety of workers within the industry. This first phase of the project profiles the careers and aspirations of more than 30 young industry employees, including administrative and human resources personnel, legal counsel, lab technicians, trades such as electricians, specialist safety and health advisors, environmental managers, engineers, plant operators and geophysicists.

Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA (CME)

CME has developed a new website that has been designed for people to explore the range of employment possibilities in the resources sector and the skills and qualifications required for specific roles.
Users can utilise the Career Finder to select jobs of interest and discover the range of duties performed, skills required and career pathways available for each role. The site also provides details on where to acquire the necessary qualifications for selected jobs, including links to education and training providers.
There are pathways into the sector for all job seekers – school leavers, graduates, skilled migrants, and people returning to the workforce or who are just looking for a career change.
The site provides links to CME member companies’ websites and recruitment portals so you can view up to date positions within operating resources companies. Users can also find out about graduate programs and traineeships available within member companies.

Discovering how to secure a job in the resources sector needn’t be a challenge, thanks to the new Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA (CME) careers website www.peopleforthefuture.com.au.
