The Garden of Remembrance was officially opened on 25 May 2007 by the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Li Shugang.
In celebration a special luncheon was held for dignitaries and sponsors from the Goldfields, Western Australia and the Chinese Embassy. The celebrations included a truly multi-cultural concert with many entertainers Aboriginal dance troupe, Australian Chinese Music Ensemble, WA Police Brass Band, Lion Dance Troupe, Scottish Highland Dancers, an operatic singer and the Chung Wah Dance Troupe. The concert highlights what the Remembrance Gardens represent the many cultures that have migrated to Australia because of our rich mining industry.
