        National Earth Science Week is being celebrated in Kalgoorlie Boulder this week. An interactive display focussing on Earth Science related careers has been placed in the William Grundt Library to raise awareness of the variety of careers available in this area.

        A very successful Earth Science Career display was put together by the Mining Hall of Fame and the Geological Survey of WA as part of the Careers Expo for the Kalgoorlie Boulder Science Awareness Festival.

        The Mining Hall of Fame has joined with the (WA) Department of Industry and Resources to provide a booth at the Careers Expo for secondary school students held on 16th & 17th September as part of the Kalgoorlie Science Festival. The Science Festival is a pilot event organised by the Kids Science State program, a joint initiative of Scitech and the Rio Tinto WA Future Fund.

Hall of Fame Database

The Hall of Fame has developed a database that records biographical details of inductees as well as the biographical details of other persons who have contributed in significant ways to mining in Australia. Inclusion in the database will not be restricted by whether a person is living or dead.

Educators in geosciences, mining, metallury and related areas who have made a significant contribution to encouraging students in following careers in these areas and developing their capabilities.
Demonstration of unusual managerial ability in exploration for, construction, start-up and operation of minerals enterprises, including setting the strategy, assembling management team and coping with difficulties of operations.
Outstanding skill and acumen in establishing a corporate entity to finance the exploration for and/or development into production of a significant orebody, or building onto existing operations.
Significant leadership in embracing environmental care as an integral part of minerals exploration, development and production.
Development and introduction of public policies, legislation and administrative procedures or government programs significantly encouraging minerals exploration and development; leadership in directing government geological surveys.
Exceptional bravery and dedication far beyond the call of duty in coping with the consequences of natural disasters and/or accidents affecting minerals industry activities and helping rescue and save the victims.
Discovery of a significant orebody, either soley or as a member of a team; discovery of major extensions to a known orebody; defining the extent and grade of a discovery through a major exploration effort.
Significant leadership of workers in minerlas developments and production.
Research, development and implementation of technologies and/or operating methods with a significant favourable impact on exploration, ore exploration, ore production, ore processing, products to assist mining process etc.
Significant leadership of, and outstanding contributions to life in mining communities.
Significant leadership in improving safety and occupational care and working towards the goals of zero accidents; development of significant methods, techniques and procedures for achieving this.
Significant research into, and publications on the history of the minerals industry; outstanding merit in communicating with and informing the public on minerals developments.
