Patrons and Directors
The Mining Hall of Fame owes it's existence to a committed team of leaders who have seen this exciting project through from conception to completion in October 2001. These voluntary Patrons, Directors, Fundraising Chairmen and State Teams recognize the importance of establishing a national mining showcase for all Australians and have contributed their time and support to make the Mining Hall of Fame a reality.

Cranston Edwards Director - Executive Council
Mr Edwards has been a prospector for over 25 years including both surface and underground prospecting and
exploration. Born in Cleve, South Australia he trained as a fitter, turner and diesel mechanic at BHP’s Whyalla
Steelworks and nearby iron ore mines.
John Edwards, Cranston’s ancestor, travelled from Cornwall in the 1880’s to work the rich copper deposits around Burra, South Australia so it is not surprising that Mr Edwards was lured to the Goldfields of Western Australia to try his luck.
The past 25 years has seen Cranston full time prospecting in many states of Australia as well as internationally. His theory is that one should always strive to be optimistic, a necessary quality for a prospector. Cranston has held an executive position on the Eastern Goldfields Prospectors Association for ten years.
A Foundation and Life Member of the Australian Prospectors & Miners Hall of Fame, Cranston has been passionately involved with the progress since its inception. Bringing a prospector’s perspective to the Board, he has served for two periods, firstly from August 1997 to April 2001, and then again since March 2003.
