How to Get There?

The Mining Hall of Fame is situated just 3km from the centre of Kalgoorlie (Western Australia) on the Goldfields Highway. Turn left at the top of Hannan Street, turn left heading towards Menzies, then follow the signs. Just near the corner of Picadilly Street.

Kalgoorlie is regularly serviced by trains, buses and aircraft, and is a comfortable days drive from Perth on excellent roads. The historic goldfields city is just under 600 kilometres east of Perth.

You can fly, drive or take a train to Perth, the sunny coastal capital of Western Australia.

Wander the Prospectors Gallery

Take a walk through the Discovery Tunnel to follow the quest for Australias riches from the finds of ochre and flint by the Australia’s Indigenous people to a search for the elusive Lasseters Reef.
Meet prospectors like James Smith, who discovered the richest tin deposit of the time in 1871 in Tasmania, and the modern prospector, Mark Creasy. Listen in on the conversations of prospectors discussing the changing times.

Be Amazed At The Minerals

The Minerals Gallery houses one of the finest collections in Australia, with large specimens of copper and silver that can be touched.

Law and Order Gallery

Delve into the matters of law and money.  Gain an understanding of the responsibilities of the government and industry in using and monitoring Australian mineral resources, and the laws, taxes and royalties associated with the workings of this industry and our government.

The Exploration Zone

A gallery for young people aged from 3 to 103.

Enter the first of two zones in the gallery where you can:

  1. have fun and be inspired and educated by the workings and the people involved in the minerals industry
  2. be environmentally aware as you drive towards an exploration drilling site
  3. become the mine manager and make your mine work efficiently
  4. experience daily events of mine site employees
  5. explore for minerals from space using maps and geophysics.
